Summer is right around the corner! With warmer weather comes weekend getaways and extended vacations. While you are away from your home, you will want to make necessary adjustments to conserve energy and to give your energy bill a vacation, too!

Three Simple Tips to Cut on Costs:

  • tips to save energy during your vacationSet your thermostat to about 85 degrees. With a temperature set higher, your air conditioner won't run as long, but it will still keep your home comfortable upon your return.
  • Replace your air filter. Dirty filters can cause your A/C to use 5-15% more energy than it should.
  • Keep your window drapes closed and blinds down. Most people keep their windows covered for security, but it also helps to block the sun's rays from radiating through the windows, reducing the need for any extra air conditioning.
